Net Impact & DEI

As a club, we focus on implementing DEI principles into our recruitment process, new member education, and general membership.

Recruitment:

  • We have a question about DEI on our application to ensure that new members are also committed to DEI principles.

  • We look at applications very holistically without requiring any GPAs, resumes, or other scores.

  • We strive to attract a diverse set of applicants.

  • During recruitment review, we always end talking about each applicant on a pro about their application.

  • We don’t judge applicants based on their previous experiences or exposure to opportunities.

  • We are open to all majors and our highest priority is if applicants have passion in the intersection of business and sustainability + social impact.

  • We have a designated VP of DEI role that ensures that the recruitment process stays inclusive and non discriminatory.

New Member Education:

  • We have a designated VP of DEI who leads roundtable discussions for new members. What happens at the roundtable discussions?

    • We learn and discuss DEI principles.

    • We do activities to increase understanding of issues of inequity and discrimination (specifically in relation to business, sustainability and social impact).

    • New members share their experiences and how their social identities have shaped these experiences, creating a space for shared reflection, learning, and growth.

    • These roundtable discussions also foster an inclusive club environment and serve as a way for new members to connect with one another.

General Membership:

  • Our social impact and sustainability meetings encourage group discussions and are safe places for people to share their experiences and opinions. We want to foster healthy conversations to build empathy among perspectives that are close and far to our own lives.

  • As a club, we host different educational events, like CDFI panels, sustainable apparel, and speakers like Gerry Anderson, to hear from a diverse group of perspectives and the trajectories of their lives. We learn from each other and from professionals with years of experience in sustainable and social impact business.

  • We are constantly looking to learn more and connect with more people to make a positive impact to our community and beyond our community.

  • We are committed to practicing inclusive leadership while also valuing individual skill sets and perspectives.
