President Schlissel’s intent for the University of Michigan to declare a plan to become carbon-neutral has been a popular topic on campus since the announcement last spring. We discussed the financial implications and economics behind what it take for a campus the size of the University of Michigan to become carbon-neutral. The event consisted of an introduction by Associate Dean Norm Bishara, followed by a panel format led by student moderators with Drs. Jennifer Haverkamp and Stephen Forrest, the Co-Chairs of the Commission, along with Professors Andy Hoffman and Joseph Trumpey, two of the internal analysis faculty leads, and end with a networking session.
